Dred; A Tale of the Great Dismal Swamp, Vol. II, 1856 Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best selling novel of the nineteenth century. It first appeared in a serialized format in the National Era of Washington, D.C. In 1852, the novel was issued in a two-volume set. Stowe's Dred followed that same format. |
