Activity: Dahomey Tapestry
Grades: 1-5
Materials:
Black construction paper
Colored construction paper (red, yellow, blue, green)
Scissors
Glue
Objective: Create a "tapestry" of your family or friends similar to the ones done by the Dahomey tribe of Africa.
Cut shapes from brightly colored construction paper and assemble them into figures of people, animals, buildings, etc. These should be the people of your family or a group of your friends. Glue them down using the black construction paper as a background. Cut small pieces of paper to add details to the figures. Try to make the picture tell a story about your family or friends.
