| The Mariners' Museum's new Homeschool Programs are similar
to those offered to traditional school groups, but are scheduled to be
more accessible to homeschool families. Occasionally there are new
programs created specifically for homeschool families. All of our
programs are hands-on and cover a wide variety of topics, from history
to science, and include a list of resources for further research at
home. Most involve a project that reinforces the lesson. Each program
lasts 1-2 hours and costs $7.50 per student/chaperone unless
otherwise noted. Students in the K-5 programs must have a chaperone. |

| Signing up for a Program or Tour |
 |
| After selecting a program from the calendar, register using our online form or by contacting Armalita Holley, Museum Educator, at (757) 591-7743 or homeschool@MarinersMuseum.org. If you have a group of ten or more students, please call to schedule any of our programs for a date and time convenient for you. |
| Coming to a Program |
 |
| Check in begins 30 minutes prior to your program's start time. Programs begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. If you wish to visit the Museum prior to 15 minutes before your scheduled program, or if you wish to stay after your program, you will have to pay the remainder of the full admission price. For every five students, one chaperone is admitted to the program for free; otherwise the chaperone must pay the $7.50 fee. |
| Homeschool Internships |
 |
The Mariners’ Museum has a number of internships set aside for homeschool students. These internships have been created to help students learn more about museum work, as well as about maritime history. Some of the internships require certain skills, while others require merely an interest in that field. At the end of the internship a short paper should be written on what work the student did, what they learned, and what they thought about the experience.
