Pre-registration begins Tuesday, April 1st and ends Saturday, May 10th.
Families will also be able to register from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event. Anyone registering after 1:00 p.m. will be required to pay the general admission fee for each family member.

Discover the Possibilities: Complementing Your Education @ The Mariners’ Museum
Learn how your family can utilize the artifacts, galleries, programs, and other resources at The Mariners’ Museum to complement your students’ historical and scientific studies. These 20-minute presentations are limited to 40 adults per session.
Pirates! The Love & Lore
This sample program introduces young students to the lives and adventures of pirates. Typical pirate weapons and examples of the money in use during that time are presented, as well as slides of the pirates and their signature flags. This program is offered every hour, on the half-hour from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and is limited to 30 students each. Appropriate for K-4th graders.
Fact or Fiction? Hollywood’s Take on Historical Piracy
Educators examine the ways in which film producers interpret piracy, as well as compare and contrast their inaccuracies to the lives of historical pirates. Older students will examine some of the reasons for piracy and the myths surrounding their lives. This sample program is offered every hour, on the half-hour from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and is limited to 30 students per program. Appropriate for 5th-12th graders.

Behind-the-Scenes Conservation Area Tour
The USS Monitor Center’s state-of-the-art Batten Conservation Complex provides visitors with a front-row seat in watching the delicate process of preserving history. Tours are limited to 25 people each. Pre-registration is required for this hour-long tour. Offered at 11 a.m. & 12 p.m.
Monitor Center Tour
Explore one of America’s premier Civil War attractions with some of our most knowledgeable experts. Get an insiders understanding of the strategies, people, technology, and science behind the historic circumstances surrounding the Battle of Hampton Roads. These hour long tours are offered every hour, on the half-hour from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and are limited to 25 people each.
Classic Exhibits Tour
Learn how researchers, exhibitors, and curators have utilized our collection to illuminate mankind’s experience with the sea and the events that shaped the course of our civilization in some of our renowned exhibits: Age of Exploration, The Nelson Touch, Defending the Seas, Great Hall of Steam, and The Miniature Ships of August and Winnifred Crabtree galleries. These guided hour-long tours are offered every hour, on the half-hour from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Limited to 25 people each.
Family Exploration Tours
Explore the beauty of the sea and mankind’s relationship with it on these self-guided family tours. Interested visitors may check-out Museum scavenger hunts that will help your family appreciate the intricate details of the International Small Craft Center, Stationary Voyages, Archipelago, and/or the Chesapeake Bay Gallery. Families can sign up at the admissions desk on the day of the Open House.
