volunteer opportunities
If you enjoy maritime history, interpreting Museum galleries, researching historical information, working with art and artifacts, and socializing with people of like interests, The Mariners' Museum is the place for you.

DOCENT, from Latin docére, to teach. A lecturer or tour guide in a museum or cathedral.

The Docent’s role is one of teacher, interpreter, and guide. Docents are the “voice” of The Mariners’ Museum to the visiting public. Docents interpret the artifacts, thus providing the visitor with a greater understanding and appreciation of the Museum’s collections and exhibits.

VOLUNTEER, from Latin voluntárius, doing something of one’s own accord. A person who performs or offers to perform a service voluntarily.

Support volunteers work behind the scenes in all aspects of the Museum’s daily activities – from research to marketing and everything in between.
