Seasonal Volunteers
2010 Summer Concert Series at The Mariners' Museum
Not-For Profit Volunteer Groups Needed
This series runs every Thursday through June and July (9 separate events) from 6:00-10:00 P.M. on the front lawn of The Mariners' Museum. Volunteer groups are needed to staff each concert from 5:30 -10:30 P.M. (rain or shine). All volunteers need to be 18 or older, able to stand for the duration, able to lift and carry supplies, and work well with the public. There are two separate opportunities for volunteers to participate in.
One involves the general set-up and clean-up of the event area before, during and after each concert. The other is serving beer and wine. Volunteers are needed in groups of 7-10 to serve beer and wine and may and receive tips for their organization. To be eligible for the second opportunity, a letter must be on file verifying the group’s non-profit status. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
It is very important that each person who volunteers to help comes to the event and can be counted on to assist throughout the entire concert. This is a really is a fun night with the community and great local bands!

High school through post-graduate school students interested in gaining knowledge in the field of maritime history, museum collections, education, or other aspects of the maritime or museum worlds are invited to inquire about internships at The Mariners' Museum. We offer both paid and un-paid internships providing the opportunity for students to expand their knowledge in a museum setting and gain practical experience for entering the history or museum job market. Special Events Intern
The Mariners’ Museum is seeking an intern to provide support for event logistics, customer service, and event rental sales to the Special Events Managers. This includes coordinating on-site logistics of museum rental events and managing customer service and administrative duties pertaining to facility rentals and the Summer Concert Series.
Project Duration: 12- 15 weeks from the end of May to August 2010. Managers are willing to work around specific internship time requirements. The intern is expected to work every Thursday evening through June and July as well as some weekend event rentals. Working during regular office hours (between 9 A.M. – 5 P.M.) will be necessary, but management is flexible within that time frame.
